Notizie sul terremoto in tempo reale ovunque ci si trovi: è possibile con l’App INGVterremoti, l’applicazione ufficiale dell’Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia italiano, scaricabile sul sito di iTunes. Basterà cliccare sul pulsante “Aggiorna” in ambito “Ultimi terremoti” per ottenere tutte le notizie relative ai terremoti delle ultime 72 ore e potersi mantenere sempre aggiornati attraverso il proprio dispositivo mobile. Un’applicazione ufficiale che in questi giorni di inquietudine e apprensione sembra rappresentare un utile canale informativo per i milioni di italiani coinvolti direttamente o indirettamente nella continua attività sismica della penisola.
L’App INGVterremoti presenta diverse funzioni: l’applicazione mostra le informazioni relative ai terremoti degli ultimi 15 giorni permettendo all’utente di orientarsi ordinandoli per data, magnitudo e distanza dal luogo dove ci si trova, e di selezionare quindi il terremoto su cui si vogliono ottenere maggiori informazioni, visualizzando una mappa ingrandita.
L’applicazione sviluppata dall’Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia permette inoltre di consultare le mappe ufficiali ad alta definizione relative alla pericolosità sismica italiana e alla pericolosità sismica delle singole regioni; tramite la funzione di ricerca permette di studiare i terremoti entro intervalli di tempo determinati dall’utente, vicino alla sua posizione o in prossimità di una specifica città, consultando i dati relativi alla magnitudo registrati dall’INGV.
L’applicazione, compatibile con iPhone, iPod touch e iPad in presenza di iOS 4.0 o versioni successive, presenta inoltre link rivolti a vari social network, una sezione FAQ dedicata alle domande frequenti relative agli eventi sismici e un glossario di pratica consultazione per comprendere appieno notizie e comunicazioni ufficiali.

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
