Come sanno bene i cittadini, a Taranto non c’è solo l’Ilva, e in questi giorni è giunta la notizie che l’Eni potenzierà la raffineria di Taranto aumentando anche le emissioni inquinanti, come ammesso dalla stessa azienda. Il comune si era detto contrario al potenziamento, ma il parere dell’ente locale ha avuto poco peso: con Governo e Regione Puglia favorevoli, il progetto Tempra Rossa per l’ampliamento dello stabilimento tarantino è stato approvato.
Via libera all’ampliamento e al potenziamento della raffineria di greggio dell’Eni a Taranto. Governo e Regione appoggiano il progetto Tempra Rossa “per lo stoccaggio e la spedizione del greggio” proveniente dalla Basilicata (dal campo Tempra Rossa, per l’appunto). Con il via libera giungeranno prolungamenti dei pontili e dei relativi servizi, una nuova linea di trasferimento del greggio fino al pontile e due nuovi serbatoi. Ciò comporterà, nell’inquinatissima Taranto, un ulteriore aumento dell’inquinamento? Ovviamente sì. Parlando delle emissioni diffuse, ovvero emesse senza controllo da parte dell’impianto, la stessa Eni ha stimato un aumento dell’11-12 per cento, non certo uno scherzo (considerando poi che si tratta di stime). Scrive la società petrolifera italiana che
Tale incremento è determinato principalmente dalla superficie dei nuovi serbatoi, di dimensione atta a contenere il quantitativo di greggio movimentato.
Con la qualità dell’aria che peggiora ulteriormente e la puzza di gas che aumenta. In tutto questo, il Governo e la Regione Puglia non sembrano considerare molto la questione ambientale, nonostante ci si trovi in una delle città più vessate d’Europa dal punto di vista dell’inquinamento (e il ministero della Salute, convocato alla conferenza dei servizi di luglio in cui se ne è discusso, non ha inviato nessun rappresentante). Insomma, il Comune di Taranto è stato ignorato, il ministero della Salute ignora la questione, e i cittadini si ritrovano per l’ennesima volta soli e impotenti davanti a decisioni dall’alto che giocano con la loro salute. L’assessore all’Ambiente del Comune di Taranto davanti al disinteresse del Governo e della Regione dinanzi al parere dell’ente locale ha potuto solo constatare amaramente, in questi giorni, come il giudizio del Comune non sia purtroppo vincolante su simili progetti.
Angelo Bonelli dei Verdi (peraltro consigliere comunale a Taranto) è intervenuto sulla questione con la sua solita schiettezza:
Questa è una sentenza che trasforma definitivamente Taranto nella discarica dei veleni d’Italia. Anche il comportamente della Regione è scandaloso perché il progetto Tempa Rossa, dal punto di vista ambientale, contribuirà ad accrescere le emissioni in atmosfera in modo insostenibile e irreversibile. È la dimostrazione che nessuno vuole un futuro alternativo per questa città. È vergognoso.
Sono peraltro giunte di recente minacce di morte e intimidazioni ai danni di Bonelli, ai quali va tutta la nostra solidarietà.
Va inoltre sottolineato che il potenziamento della raffineria Eni di Taranto dal punto di vista occupazionale avrà conseguenze minime e in linea di massima trascurabili: si parla infatti di progetto dedito in primo luogo alla movimentazione del greggio, con un cantiere che, per 24 mesi, dovrebbe dare lavoro ad appena 53 operatori. Ed è così che, mentre la città chiede aria più pulita e i miglioramenti da parte dell’Ilva stentano ad arrivare, tra la multinazionale, il Governo e la Regione, Taranto si prepara a diventare ancora più inquinata.
