E’ stato firmato sabato scorso, 30 luglio, il procollo d’intesa tra il Parco Nazionale del Circeo ed il Comune di Ponza per la riqualificazione sostenibile dell’isola laziale di Zannone che aprirà sia al mondo scientifico che ad un turismo a basso impatto. Zannone, che fa parte dal 1979 del Circeo, grazie alla raggiunta intesa con Ponza, potrà finalmente far uscire allo scoperto l’immenso valore che racchiude, pur preservando l’integrità del suo territorio naturale.
Stando a quanto ratificato dal documento gli immobili dell’isola dovranno essere riqualificati sulla base di un restauro di natura conservativa, si provvederà alla manutenzione ordinaria e si realizzerà un punto di approdo stagionale che potrà poi essere rimosso durante il resto dell’anno. Gli operatori turistici verranno formati sulle norme del turismo ecocompatibile.
Come ha spiegato Gaetano Benedetto, presidente del Parco Nazionale del Circeo:
Fermo restando l’obbligo di garantire la conservazione dell’isola, è fondamentale trovare forme di fruizione che permettano di conoscere Zannone. Il suo isolamento e la sua inaccessibilità sono stati per secoli a garanzia della sua bellezza e del suo valore naturalistico. Noi intendiamo entrare e far entrare in punta di piedi studiosi e appassionati di avifauna, per fare di Zannone un punto di riferimento internazionale. L’idea è di avviare un turismo estivo leggero, soprattutto legato all’educazione ambientale e ai campi scuola estivi.
Bisognerà procedere con prudenza, però, perché, e vale la pena ricordarlo, l’isola è uno scrigno di biodiversità dal valore immenso ed è una importante rotta migratoria per gli uccelli che dall’Africa centrale si spostano verso il Nord Europa. La presenza di acqua dolce la rende un habitat ideale per l’avifauna con ben 329 specie di uccelli censite sull’isola.
Sulla cautela con cui procedere ad aprire l’isola al turismo leggero, è intervenuto lo stesso Benedetto sottolineando come
Si procederà per fasi successive. Nessuna forzatura o fuga in avanti, ma semmai la ricerca dell’opinione e del contributo di tutti per fare di Zannone un esempio nel nostro Paese di conservazione rigorosa e di fruizione sostenibile come altri ve ne sono al mondo.
