Le sue elezioni le ha vinte anche puntando sull’ambiente. Ora è arrivato il momento di mettere in pratica ciò che ha promesso. Lo aveva già chiesto qualche giorno fa Legambiente ad Ignazio Marino, nuovo sindaco di Roma del Pd che ha promesso di rendere la Capitale più sostenibile. E viste le sue esternazioni di queste ore sembra che ci siano davvero i presupposti per lavorare nel modo migliore.
Tanto per cominciare, il primo segnale è arrivato ieri mattina quando è arrivato al Campidoglio non a bordo della tradizionale auto blu con scorta lampeggiante e sirena, ma in sella ad una normalissima bicicletta (anzi, a dir la verità sembrava pure abbastanza vecchia) e pure i poliziotti che lo scortavano erano costretti a pedalare a pochi passi da lui. Peccato che non indossasse il caschetto, ma questa è un’altra storia.
Arrivato al palazzo del Comune poi, come qualsiasi cittadino, ha legato con la catena la bicicletta ad un palo-rastrelliera e se n’è andato. Speriamo soltanto che non si sia trattato di uno spot del primo giorno ma questa scena possa ripetersi anche in futuro, e la imitino anche altri sindaci.
Dopodiché è stata la volta della sua prima conferenza, ed ha fatto una promessa che da anni i romani, o almeno quelli che ci tengono a mantenere intatte le bellezze storiche della città, volevano ascoltare: pedonalizzerà i Fori Imperiali. Una delle aree storiche più belle al mondo, visitate ogni anno da milioni di turisti e vanto della città non potevano più continuare a mantenersi sporche e trafficate come sono oggi, con lo smog che anneriva i monumenti. Per questo Marino ha deciso che è arrivato il momento di chiudere le strade al traffico ed ha deciso di farlo quando farà meno male, ovvero a Ferragosto quando normalmente le auto in quell’area non circolano quasi per niente, ma lo fanno tantissimi turisti. La promessa di Marino è che dalla seconda metà di agosto in poi i Fori Imperiali saranno attraversabili soltanto a piedi o in bicicletta.
Infine il sindaco ha promesso di incentivare l’utilizzo di mezzi pubblici e di limitare sempre più il traffico veicolare utilizzando la tattica di altre città come Milano di piazzare in punti strategici della città dei parcheggi di scambio in cui lasciare l’auto gratuitamente per poter prendere la metro o altri mezzi pubblici. Un’impresa davvero ardua visto il punto di partenza. Sempre sulla mobilità, altre promesse sono aumentare il numero di colonnine di ricarica per le auto elettriche, i parcheggi al coperto per le biciclette, favorire il car-sharing e limitare la velocità in alcune aree residenziali a 30 km/h. Noi gli auguriamo di realizzare tutti i punti del suo programma ed anche di più.
