Sempre più diffuso, l’orto domestico, è ora a portata di tutti anche di chi non ha il pollice verde e non possiede un terreno grazie ad un kit di giardinaggio ecologico messo a punto da un designer britannico, Philip Houiellebecq. Egli ha ideato Auxano, un set di contenitori realizzati con diversi materiali: in poloetilene, gomma, legno, acciaio e acrilico, ma tutti rigorosamente con materiale riciclato. Con il loro utilizzo anche chi non possiede un giardino, o un balcone, può coltivare ugualmente spezie, verdure e ortaggi in casa.Vediamo come.
Secondo il designer britannico Philip Houiellebecq a tutti deve esser data la possibilità di coltivare in proprio zucchine, melanzane, insalata, basilico, rosmarino…anche chi non possiede un giardino in cui seminare e piantare il proprio orto urbano. Sfruttando anche i più piccoli ambienti domestici con l’utilizzo di contenitori ecologici in diversi materiali riciclati, questo diviene possibile. Le piantine difatti potranno crescere all’interno degli stessi contenitori da posizionare in modo verticale o orizzontale senza la necessità di terra: le radici si potranno sviluppare all’interno dei cilindri posti nella parte inferiore del contenitore, colmi di elementi nutrienti necessari alla crescita delle piante. Il fusto delle piantine potrà invece crescere nella parte superiore delle unità modulari che, al momento della raccolta, possono essere rimosse per facilitare il taglio degli ortaggi o delle verdure.
Un’altra particolarità del kit di giardinaggio domestico Auxano è che i contenitori sono trasparenti per permettere di monitorare lo sviluppo del proprio orto urbano controllando la crescita delle piante quotidianamente. Il contadino domestico deve solamente offrire ossigeno alle sue colture, pompandolo attraverso dei forellini direttamente nei contenitori appesi nelle camere della sua abitazione. In questo modo, come spiega l’ideatore del sistema, per produrre ortaggi e spezie a km zero non serviranno neppure sole e acqua. Quindi il kit di giardinaggio è due volte ecologico: una volta perché ottenuto con materiali riciclati e una seconda volta perchè riduce il consumo delle risorse.
