I migliori prodotti alimentari del centro Italia si potranno assaggiare a Ciampino ogni terza domenica del mese, nel Mercato della Terra, un evento enogastronomico organizzato da Slow Food in collaborazione con il Comune di Ciampino e l’Associazione Apiaria. Il primo appuntamento per la fiera è per il 17 ottobre 2010.
Il decimo Mercato della Terra italiano, e il primo nel Centro Sud, è solo il punto di partenza per un progetto molto più ampio che interessa la Provincia di Roma, impegnata nella difesa dei prodotti genuini e biologici, e dei loro produttori. Come spiega Roberto Muzi, responsabile del progetto Slow Food a Ciampino
I consumatori orientano le scelte di chi produce. E saranno loro a combattere in prima linea contro lo spreco di chilometri, per prodotti locali che risparmino sui trasporti e rappresentino l’essenza del territorio. Per questo penso che il Mercato della Terra di Ciampino abbia anche un valore in più: insiste su un’area che aveva la vocazione alla produzione del vino ed è stata abbandonata alla speculazione edilizia.
Saranno presenti circa 20 produttori locali, provenienti dalla Provincia di Roma e dalle aree di Frosinone e Latina, a proporre i loro frutti, ortaggi, vini, latte crudo, carni, pane e prodotti dolciari, ma anche birra artigianale e salumi, miele e gelati, cosmetici ottenuti con gli 
scarti di lavorazione degli stessi. La giornata dell’alimentazione sana e genuina, dei prodotti locali a km zero, sarà accompagnata dal maestro liutaio Marco Cignitti che spiegherà le tecniche principali di costruzione e suono degli strumenti a fiato originari della valle dell’Aniene. Uno degli aspetti che più verrà messo in risalto durante la giornata dedicata alla sana alimentazione, è la iper-trattazione del latte, sottoposto a trattamenti che lo privano delle sue qualità naturali. Il 17 ottobre i produttori locali daranno ai visitatori latte crudo, genuino e corposo. Nel mondo sono circa 150 milioni le aziende produttrici di latte a conduzione familiare, che danno lavoro a circa 750 milioni di persone, di cui la maggior parte vive nei Paesi in via di sviluppo.
Il Mercato della Terra fa parte di una rete internazionale di mercati, produttori e contadini, che aderiscono alla filosofia Slow Food
Avvicinare produttori e consumatori, tanto da far diventare questi ultimi dei veri e propri co-produttori.
L’appuntamento è a Ciampino, nel piazzale della ASL, in via Calò presso la sede del mercato ortofrutticolo, dalle ore 9 alle 14.
