In un momento particolare come questo, l’ultima cosa che si dovrebbe fare è sprecare ciò che si ha. Noi italiani siamo tra i popoli più spreconi al mondo, e per questo dovremmo dare un’occhiata oltremanica, dove hanno avuto un’idea niente male.
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall è considerato una sorta di eroe nazionale, dato che grazie al suo ingegno i britannici hanno migliorato il loro stile di vita. La sua ultima invenzione si chiama “Landshare“, ovvero la condivisione della terra, e si basa sul concetto che chi ha del territorio inutilizzato non lo deve sprecare, abbandonandolo a sè stesso, ma metterlo in condivisione con la comunità, dando la possibilità a chi ha abbastanza buona volontà, di renderlo produttivo. Attenzione, non stiamo parlando di grandi appezzamenti di terra, ma anche di piccoli giardini domestici.
Lo schema è molto semplice: io possiedo un giardino o un pezzettino di terra, ma non ho il tempo di curarlo. Lo cedo ad alcuni giardinieri i quali, conoscendo tutti i trucchi per sfruttarlo a dovere, lo coltivano, condividendone i frutti con il proprietario. Un metodo veloce, semplice e produttivo per far del bene alla comunità a costo zero.
L’idea è venuta considerando alcuni freddi dati: in Gran Bretagna l’80% della popolazione vive nei grandi e medi agglomerati urbani. Considerando che solo una piccola parte produce cibo, e che questo per finire nei piatti di questo 80% percorre quasi 3 miliardi di km all’anno (escludendo quello importato, con conseguenti danni ambientali e al portafoglio, visto il costo del petrolio), perché non cominciare a produrcelo dentro casa?
I fautori di quest’idea hanno promesso di portarla in esame al Governo, in maniera tale da creare una legiferazione che permetta di attuarla, dato che ci sono di mezzo i soliti problemi burocratici come ad esempio lo sfruttamento della proprietà altrui. Ma loro sono ottimisti. Se pensiamo che già le persone racchiuse in un quartiere si sentono come in una specie di comunità, questo sentimento comune potrebbe spingere in molti ad accettare l’iscrizione a questa sorta di “registro dei proprietari”, per produrre cibo locale a basso costo. Con guadagno da parte di tutti.
