Google Maps per telefonini indicherà le strade con meno traffico

Google Maps, il rivoluzionario servizio gratuito di Google che indica le strade e le cartine geografiche di tutto il mondo, sta lavorando per fornire un altro servizio che viene richiesto da più parti da alcuni anni ormai, e sembra che gli utenti di telefoni Android saranno i primi ad ottenerlo: indicherà le strade meno trafficate.

Il primo vantaggio del servizio è che di certo aiuterà nell’impresa di risparmiare benzina, tempo, e soprattutto emissioni di carbonio. Google Maps per Android invierà le informazioni sul traffico raccolte da Google a seconda della direzione impostata dall’utente come già avviene con alcuni navigatori satellitari. L’ultima versione prevede percorsi alternativi che terranno l’automobilista lontano dal traffico.

Secondo Download Squad,

Con Google Maps Navigation gli utenti alla guida risparmieranno 35 milioni di miglia (circa 56 milioni di km) al giorno, il grande G ha abbondanza di informazioni sul traffico. La versione Beta è già disponibile, e la nuova funzione sul traffico entrerà in funzione automaticamente per gli utenti in Nord America e in Europa.

Ma le buone notizie non finiscono qui. Infatti pare che non ci sia nemmeno bisogno di ricercare manualmente il percorso migliore perché le soluzioni più adatte sono fornite automaticamente in quanto le informazioni giungono in tempo reale al sistema. In pratica non c’è bisogno di fare nulla per trovare la via più veloce, basta avviare il sistema direttamente dall’applicazione o da Google Maps.

Secondo le prime anticipazioni pare possa essere possibile persino cercare, con il riconoscimento vocale, le vie da inserire come destinazione, in modo da evitare di distrarsi alla guida. L’itinerario compare sulla mappa grazie ai dati satellitari. Per ora l’applicazione sarà disponible solo per Android, ma come tutti i prodotti di Google, attendiamo che venga introdotta anche su tutti gli altri modelli di smartphone, presumibilmente almeno tutti quelli che prevedono già oggi il servizio di Google Maps.

Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
