Il diploma europeo delle aree protette al Parco Nazionale Gran Paradiso e al Parc National de la Vanoise, in Francia, è stato rinnovato dal Comitato dei Ministri del Consiglio d’Europa. Si tratta di un ambito riconoscimento che premia le aree protette che si sono distinte per la biodiversità, le qualità scientifiche, culturali e per la promozione dello sviluppo sostenibile. I due parchi, in collaborazione con Uist Piemonte (Unione Italiana Sport per Tutti), vi invitano a partecipare ai festeggiamenti per la riconferma del prestigioso riconoscimento, nelle giornate del 23 e 24 luglio, con eventi ed iniziative per grandi e piccini.
Incontri al centro visita del Parco a Ceresole Reale, coro degli Alpini del Monte Cervino, spettacolo di aquiloni acrobatici tra i laghetti del Parco Nazionale del Gran Paradiso, ma anche la lettura della Carta del buon vicinato, firmata nel 1999, presso il colle del Nivolet, in italiano e in francese, si alternano durante il weekend per festeggiare il diploma europeo delle aree protette. L’ambito riconoscimento, istituito nel 1965 dal Consiglio d’Europa, è stato ricevuto per la prima volta dal Parco Nazionale del Gran Paradiso nel 2006, mentre il parco transalpino lo ricevette nel 1976, viene rinnovato dopo i primi 5 e poi 10 anni. Esso, oltre a riconoscere gli sforzi compiuti dalle aree protette, fornisce indicazioni e raccomandazioni circa la protezione e la promozione di modelli di gestione ecosostenibile. Il diploma europeo è stato rinnovato in modo congiunto ai due enti parco con l’obiettivo di consolidare la cooperazione tra le due aree protette; cooperazione avviata nel 1972 nella ricerca della biodiversità e nella conservazione del paesaggio, ad esempio mediante monitoraggi sull’andamento della popolazione di stambecco, censita dal personale dei due parchi in collaborazione. L’unione reale dei due parchi, confinanti per una decina di km lungo la dorsale alpina, va a coincidere con le iniziative di organizzazione reciproca e promozione di un turismo naturalistico di qualità, come spiega il Presidente del Parco Nazionale del Gran Paradiso, Italo Cerise
Nel corso di questi cinque anni abbiamo lavorato con volontà ed impegno in collaborazione con il Parco Nazionale della Vanoise per raggiungere gli obiettivi richiesti dal Consiglio d’Europa. Il rinnovo del diploma europeo ha confermato la serietà e la responsabilità nelle scelte effettuate dall’Ente Parco e dalle istituzioni locali nello sviluppo sostenibile dell’area protetta e rappresenta un primo passo per porre le premesse dell’istituzione di un’unica area protetta transfrontaliera.
