Greenpeace ha scelto una serie di bellissime foto di boschi e foreste in occasione della Giornata Internazionale delle Foreste tenutasi quest’anno per la prima volta il 21 marzo. Dall’Amazzonia alla Germania passando per la Siberia, 9 foto per immortalare la straordinaria bellezza del nostro patrimonio naturale.
In questa gallery di foto e immagini dedicate a boschi e foreste riproponiamo alcune delle foto scelte da Greenpeace, che in occasione della Giornata Internazionale delle Foreste ha voluto ribadire, per tutti gli abitanti del globo, la loro importanza. Senza foreste, hanno ricordato gli attivisti, la vita sul nostro pianeta non esisterebbe, e oggi che ci troviamo a dover fronteggiare i cambiamenti climatici che già infliggono durissimi colpi al pianeta, in termini di disastri naturali e non solo, dobbiamo tenere bene a mente che le nostre foreste trattengono circa 300 miliardi di tonnellate di carbonio, 40 volte quanto noi emettiamo in termini di gas serra in tutto il pianeta ogni anno.
Chiara Campione, la responsabile della campagna Foreste di Greenpeace Italia, ha inoltre ricordato che
la distruzione di una foresta in una parte del globo può avere un impatto disastroso dall’altra parte del Pianeta. Alcuni scienziati hanno recentemente dimostrato come la perdita di foreste in Amazzonia e in Africa centrale riduca notevolmente le precipitazioni nel Midwest negli Stati Uniti.
In questo 2013 in cui è stato istituita la Giornata Internazionale delle Foreste Greenpeace ha quindi deciso di diffondere queste splendide foto con l’idea di far vedere, di riportare sotto gli occhi di tutti ciò che ogni anno andiamo distruggendo, sempre tenendo ben chiaro in mente che non solo devastiamo la bellezza propria del nostro pianeta, ma mettiamo a grave repentaglio il nostro futuro, dato il ruolo basilare che le foreste svolgono nel contenere la CO2 che tutte le nazioni ogni anno emettono. Il sogno degli ambientalisti resta quello di un futuro prossimo a deforestazione zero.
