E’ in corso, a Paestum, la XIX edizione della Borsa Mediterranea del Turismo archeologico nell’ambito della quale è emerso un forte interesse nei confronti della salvaguardia dei nostri mari e del loro patrimonio archeologico. Alla presenza di Anna Arzhanova e Silvia Costa, presidente della CMAS la prima e della Commissione cultura, istruzione, sport, giovani del Parlamento Europeo la seconda, e di Andreas M. Steiner, Direttore di Archeo, è stato presentato il progetto Blue Helmets of the Sea, promosso dalla Confederazione mondiale delle attività subacquee.
Diversi sono gli obiettivi al centro dell’interesse di quest’ultima:
- La pulizia e la lotta contro l’inquinamento dei nostri mari è uno di questi. I Blue Helmets of the Sea si prefiggono il compito di ripulire gli oceani e favorirne il benessere. Come affermato da Anna Arzhanova durante la BMTA
Vogliamo che i nostri tesserati di CMAS mettano dovunque nel mondo la loro capacità ed esperienza al servizio della cultura e della salvaguardia e pulizia del mare. CMAS opererà in sintonia con l’UNESCO e con tutti i comitati scientifici, università e onlus formando un fronte comune che avrà come obiettivi quelli di recuperare i tesori nascosti sott’acqua e liberare e pulire i nostri mari. Non possiamo più tollerare le isole di plastica del mare.
Queste ultime sono numerose: attualmente le più vaste interessano l’oceano Pacifico, l’Atlantico e l’Indiano, causando disastri ambientali di grande rilevanza e provocando, ogni giorno, la morte di numerose specie marine ed altrettanti volatili.
- Preoccupazione della Confederazione è anche quella di garantire la salvaguardia del patrimonio archeologico potendo contare sul sostegno dell’archeologia subacquea, settore facente parte della CMAS pronto a fornire completa cooperazione.
- Altro punto di interesse della Confederazione è quello legata all’emergenza dei profughi: sempre più numerosi sono i migranti che affidano al mare la propria disperata ricerca di salvezza. E’ desiderio della CMAS quello di garantire loro un corso di formazione per attività subacquee che li renda idonei, in futuro, a far parte dei Caschi blu del mare. Tra le altre priorità del progetto, infine, quello di cercare di fare chiarezza sul mito di Atlantide.
Anche l’onorevole Costa si è dimostrata entusiasta del progetto Blue Helmets of the Sea:
Sono estremamente felice di presentare questa iniziativa di grandissimo valore sportivo, educativo e culturale: i caschi blu del mare da oggi saranno operativi in Italia, in Europa e nel mondo, saranno a servizio della comunità al fine di riportare alla luce i nostri tesori archeologici sott’acqua e saranno pronti ad intervenire dovunque nel mondo per salvaguardare e pulire i nostri mari.
