Accordo sottoscritto dal ministro dell’Ambiente Gian Luca Galletti e Solheim, direttore esecutivo dell’Unep, l’Agenzia Onu per l’Ambiente al termine del convegno sulla finanza sostenibile “Financing the Future” in Banca d’Italia.
Secondo quanto riportato in un comunicato stampa pubblicato sul sito del Ministero dell’Ambiente, il governo italiano si è impenato a elargire un contributo di 5 milioni di euro al Fondo Ambiente Onu portando a 10,5 milioni la somma stanziata dal 2014 a oggi. Tre sono gli ambiti di intervento principali: resilienza ai cambiamenti del clima, rinnovabili ed efficienza, riduzione delle emissioni dovute a deforestazione.
Nell’accordo di scrive che il contributo stanziato dall’Italia alla strategia di medio termine dell’Unep per il periodo 2014-2017, punterà anche a promuovere il trasferimento e l’uso di tecnologie per le fonti rinnovabili e l’efficienza energetica per uno sviluppo a basso contenuto di emissioni, a sostenere la pianificazione e attuazione di iniziative per ridurre le emissioni dovute alla deforestazione e alla degradazione delle foreste.
Lo stanziamento sarà erogato in due tranche da 2,5 milioni, la prima già disponibile dal momento della firma dell’intesa e la seconda entro il 31 ottobre di quest’anno. La cifra, spiega l’Unep, aiuterà l’Agenzia Onu ad attuare progetti volti a promuovere un sistema finanziario sostenibile e a rinforzare la gestione sostenibile delle risorse naturali e dell’economia marina.
Consolidare l’agenda verde del Paese è quindi uno dei principali obiettivi del ministro Galletti, che proprio in occasione della presentazione del rapporto “Financing the Future” aveva affermato:
Lo sviluppo ambientale è lo sviluppo industriale del Paese. L’ambiente entra sempre più nelle nostre prospettive finanziarie, e sarà tra i fattori economici più rilevanti prevalentemente per tre ragioni: la prima, di tipo etico-morale, riguarda il debito ambientale che i Paesi sviluppati hanno nei confronti dei Paesi in via di sviluppo. La seconda ragione è che l’ambiente sarà centrale in quella che definiamo la ‘quarta rivoluzione industriale’, e le imprese che capiranno prima l’economia circolare, saranno quelle più competitive nel nuovo mondo. La terza ragione è che la sostenibilità ambientale ha una stretta relazione con i bilanci delle aziende; molte materie prime considerate inesauribili non lo saranno più, e finanza e ambiente saranno sempre più legate.
