Al Salone Internazionale del Biologico e del Naturale (SANA) sono stati presentati i dati sui consumi degli italiani di prodotti biologici. Una scelta che convince sempre più consumatori.
Si è conclusa ieri l’edizione 2016 del Salone Internazionale del Biologico e del Naturale (SANA). L’evento ospitato a Bologna Fiere rappresenta ogni anno una occasione per fare il punto sui prodotti biologici sia in termini di apprezzamento del mercato sia per quanto riguarda novità e dinamiche del settore. Anche questa edizione del SANA è stata caratterizzata da una ricca serie di eventi centrati su tre temi fondamentali: alimentazione biologica, prodotti biologici e naturali per la cura ed il benessere della persona e prodotti naturali per la casa ed il tempo libero. Particolarmente interessanti sono i dati sul crescente apprezzamento dei prodotti biologici per l’alimentazione, un settore che continua a crescere e che sta trovando anche nell’export un importante canale commerciale.
Cibo biologico per il 74% degli italiani
Al SANA 2016 sono stati presentati i dati dell’Osservatorio SANA-ICE 2016 “Tutti i numeri del Bio“, un dettagliato studio realizzato con Nomisma che delinea lo stato del cibo biologico in Italia. Il primo dato da sottolineare in questo senso è il crescente apprezzamento dei consumatori verso i prodotti bio. Negli ultimi 12 mesi infatti il 74% delle famiglie italiane ha acquistato almeno un prodotto biologico, una percentuale in crescita rispetto al 69% registrato nel 2015. Concretamente si calcola che circa 18 milione di famiglie italiane nell’ultimo anno abbiano consumato almeno un cibo biologico.
Assieme al numero di famiglie che sceglie prodotti biologici cresce anche la parte di spesa alimentare destinata a questa tipologia di alimenti. La ‘spesa bio’ rappresenta oggi il 3,1% dell’intera spesa alimentare a fronte dell’1,9% che si registrava solo tre anni fa. I prodotti alimentari biologici mostrano inoltre un’elevata capacità di fidelizzazione; 9 consumatori su 10 che acquistano cibo biologico hanno iniziato almeno due o tre anni fa. Molto elevata è anche la percentuale di chi consuma cibi bio quasi quotidianamente (25%) o almeno una volta alla settimana (43%).
Chi compra biologico?
I dati del rapporto “Tutti i numeri del Bio” permettono anche di ricostruire il profilo del consumatore tipo. Partendo dal presupposto che i prodotti biologici per l’alimentazione sono molto trasversali nelle scelte di acquisto degli italiani, è comunque possibile individuare delle linee generali di maggiore apprezzamento. Ad esempio la propensione all’acquisto di prodotti bio è più elevata tra i consumatori con un elevato titolo di studio (81%). Similmente il consumo di alimenti biologici è maggiore nelle famiglie con redditi medio alti (78%) rispetto alle famiglie con redditi medio bassi (64%).
Anche la presenza di figli sotto i 12 anni incide positivamente sulla scelta del biologico (77%). In maniera simile le famiglie in cui siano presenti vegetariani o vegani registrano un tasso di penetrazione dei prodotti bio ancora più elevato (87%). Lo stesso si riscontra nelle famiglie in cui sono presenti persone con malattie che necessitano di un più stringente controllo dell’alimentazione (85%).
I prodotti biologici più venduti
Quando si tratta di cibo biologico cosa acquistano gli italiani? Anche a questa domanda i dati del rapporto provano a dare una risposta sottolineando come la scelta della produzione biologica sia particolarmente felice soprattutto per alcuni alimenti. L’ortofrutta fresca è in questo senso il prodotto biologico più ricercato tanto che il 74% delle famiglie lo ha acquistato almeno una volta.
Anche l’olio extra vergine d’oliva (62%) e le uova (53%) sono stati scelti almeno una volta di tipo bio da più di metà delle famiglie italiane. Altri prodotti biologici che incontrano notevole apprezzamento tra i consumatori sono nell’ordine miele (45%), confetture e marmellate (45%), formaggi freschi (44%), yogurt e burro (41%). Infine è interessante notare come anche riso e pasta bio (41%) rientrino tra le preferenze delle famiglie italiane. Un chiaro indice della predisposizione dei consumatori a portare gli alimenti biologici anche in prodotti base dell’alimentazione quotidiana.
Perché si compra biologico?
Tra le ragioni che inducono i consumatori a preferire il cibo biologico si registra come risposta più frequente la sicurezza per la salute indicata nel 27% dei casi. Nel 20% dei casi è stato invece indicato il rispetto dell’ambiente associato alle produzioni bio mentre un maggior livello di controllo dei prodotti è stato indicato nel 14% dei casi.
Interessante è anche l’analisi dei criteri con cui si sceglie un prodotto biologico. Nel 32% dei casi infatti il consumatore orienta il suo acquisto privilegiando l’ordine italiana. Un dato che viene ulteriormente rafforzato dal 14% di consumatori che scelgono prodotti biologici con i marchi DOP o IGP. Anche la fiducia nella marca del supermercato o del produttore è uno dei più frequenti criteri di scelti degli alimenti biologici tanto da essere indicata rispettivamente dal 15% e dal 9% del consumatori. Nella diffusione dei prodotti biologici incide in una certa misura anche la presenza di promozioni (14%) o di prezzi competitivi (9%).
La grande distribuzione (GDO) rappresenta il canale di vendita più scelto dagli consumatori che hanno acquistato prodotti biologici (60% dei casi). Ma è forte anche l’interesse verso i negozi specializzati in prodotti bio (28% dei casi).
L’export del biologico italiano
Come abbiamo accennato il mercato interno di alimenti biologici gode di buona salute. Come per tutto il made in Italy alimentare, anche per i prodotti bio i mercati esteri rappresentano una importante occasione di sviluppo. In due paesi chiave come Stati Uniti e Canada la percentuale di famiglie che ha acquistato prodotti biologici negli ultimi 12 mesi è stata pari rispettivamente all’81% ed al 76%.
Negli USA il 10% dei consumatori ha acquistato almeno una volta un prodotto biologico italiano, e lo stesso vale per il 5% dei consumatori canadesi. Buona è anche la reputazione del biologico proveniente dall’Italia indicato come primo paese straniero per qualità dal 30% degli statunitensi e dal 15% dei canadesi.
