Con l’inverno che sta arrivando non c’è nulla di meglio di una bella vacanza presso una fonte termale per rigenerarsi. Per fortuna la nostra bella Europa non lesina in quanto ad attrazioni paesaggistiche, e ce ne sono alcune anche in Italia da visitare almeno una volta nella vita. Andiamo a vedere quali sono quelle più ecologiche dopo il salto.
Per non dover fare tanta strada e non dilapidarsi con il budget, rimaniamo a portata di auto, o al massimo di treno, con le Terme di Saturnia in Toscana, vicino Grosseto. La zona termale, nota sin dai tempi degli antichi Romani, è talmente vasta da comprendere una decina di Comuni. Le sue acque sulfuree raggiungono naturalmente una temperatura di 37,5 gradi ed ha indubbie proprietà terapeutiche grazie alla presenza di gas e sali minerali disciolti.
Rimaniamo in Italia per segnalare altri due centri termali conosciuti in tutto il mondo, quello di Ischia e quello di Pantelleria. Ad Ischia quasi tutte le strutture alberghiere hanno un proprio centro termale, e così c’è solo l’imbarazzo della scelta tra parchi acquatici e vere e proprie spiagge. A Pantelleria invece prevalgono le aree aperte al pubblico grazie a tantissime fumarole di origine vulcanica, così com’è l’isola stessa. Le sue acque sono note per far bene contro i reumatismi e l’artrite, e per essere tra le poche di questo spessore ad essere gratuite.
Se volessimo spingerci un po’ fuori dall’Italia potremmo scegliere l’Austria che, anche se non è molto nota per le sue terme, ha almeno tre importanti centri termali. Tra queste segnaliamo Aquadome, una sorgente geotermica scoperta 500 anni fa che ha dato vita ad un complesso di tre piscine termali giganti con acqua che varia da 24 a 34 gradi e comprende anche gli idrogetti.
Per rimanere nelle vicinanze segnaliamo Bains de Dorres, in Francia, che al solo costo di 4 euro vi permette di immergervi in acque che possono raggiungere persino i 40 gradi e che sono presidiate anche da medici autorizzati per la sicurezza degli ospiti. Meritevole di segnalazione anche una località greca nota più che altro per le bellissime spiagge: Santorini. Anche se di solito i giovani ci vanno per divertirsi in altri modi, in pochi sanno che ospita una delle più belle fonti termali d’Europa, con tanto di fanghi sulfurei. Il tutto fruibile gratuitamente.
Voliamo fino in Germania dove troviamo le incredibili terme di Spreewald, appena fuori Berlino, che raggiungono addirittura la temperatura di 51 gradi. Immersa in un ambiente forestale quasi incontaminato, l’acqua mineralizzata è un toccasana per ossa e muscoli. Se ci fermassimo un po’ prima troveremmo una fonte termale anche in Svizzera, le terme di Vals, caratterizzate dalla presenza di quarzo di cui l’acqua è ricca e di cui è composta l’intera struttura. L’acqua fuorisce a quasi 30 gradi e nelle piscine può anche raggiungere i 42 gradi.
Per chi invece è disposto a viaggiare un po’ di più potrebbero interessare le terme islandesi di Hveravellir presenti in un parco incontaminato definito “pianura termale”. Si tratta di una riserva naturale che si trova in mezzo a due ghiacciai e la presenza dell’uomo si nota soltanto attraverso piccole capanne che fanno da punto di riferimento per gli ospiti. L’immersione nelle sue acque geotermiche è gratuita. E chiudiamo questa gallery con le terme di Landmannalaugar, Laguna Blu in islandese. Si tratta di una fonte termale naturale e gratuita che d’inverno è ghiacciata, ma d’estate offre sollievo ai migliaia di escursionisti che visitano l’isola e che non possono mancare l’appuntamento con una delle terme più caratteristiche al mondo.
